The brokerage industry has evolved significantly over time, transitioning from traditional full-service brokerage firms to discount brokers and online trading platforms. Technological advancements, particularly the rise of the internet and mobile devices, has led to increased competition and fee compression. While this shift has generally increased accessibility and reduced trading costs, minority brokerage firms have faced challenges in competing with larger, more established players due to barriers to entry and limited access to capital. This panel will discuss some of the changes from both the side of the asset manager and the minority broker.
